If I’m not mistaken Felix was one of the first restaurants that opened in Greenbelt 5 years ago. I finally got to eat there last June. Better late than never.
The restaurant was named after Chef Florabel Co-Yatco’s dad, Felix.
My friends and I almost never meet on Saturdays since most spend time with their families. But when my friend texted everyone just a few hours before noon inviting us for lunch at Felix (she had to use up some GCs) it was shocking that everyone made it. Imagine 10 women showing up for lunch with no planning at all! Either all the stars were aligned that day or the word “free lunch” was an excellent motivation.
Most of us ordered cocktails since it was buy 1 take 1.
All of their food had names. I love the website of Felix since the entire menu was there and it made it very easy to just copy and paste the food names and descriptions. Since I didn’t get to try all the dishes I will just comment on the ones I ate.
Pretty colors on this salad with fruits, veggies and a few flowers.
I had just come home from New Zealand where I went gaga over the plumpest and freshest oysters when I ate here. These oysters were no comparison but at least they were fresh.
My favorite food at Felix were these simple fried slices of pork belly. They were crunchy like chips and were so fun to eat. It was even better than chicharon.
I prefer the typical gambas with garlic and a little spice.
I had this beautiful looking sea bass topped with a mountain of shoestring potatoes. I must say they plate their food quite nicely. I only wished it tasted as good too. The fish was simply fried and seasoned with salt and pepper. That’s it. Take out all the veggie garnish and you’re left with fish I could have cooked at home. At least my fish was well cooked and tasted ok. Deb ordered the same and her fish had an off taste.
I suggested Pat order the Angus beef salpicao because it’s something I knew she would appreciate and it turned out she had the best meal among all of us.
I tried a small piece of the short ribs and found some parts were too tough.
The overall comments of my friends of their meal ranged from ‘so so’, ‘not bad but nothing great’, and my favorite was “where do we go for dessert?” Oh I think I the last comment was mine. We had dessert at Cafe Breton as usual. We just love our crepes.
