It’s been too long since I’ve eaten at Amici considering I pass by their branch almost everyday. After seeing their new products in the newspaper I decided it’s time to reacquaint myself with one of my favorite Italian QSR (quick service restaurant).
I can’t remember how many times I’ve eaten in Italian restaurants and commented, “the food is better at Amici.” For a QSR their quality and use of top notch ingredients is excellent.
I was too lazy to go out one Saturday so I just had food delivered. I ordered the blue cheese and pear salad made with arugula and mixed greens served with a honey vinaigrette dressing. I really loved the combination of thinly sliced pear, blue cheese and walnuts. The blue cheese was crumbled into small pieces and there was enough to go with each bite of salad. After discovering this salad I plan to make my own version.

Eaten on its own the prosciutto portobello mushroom was a bit bland.

But when the roll was dipped into the tomato garlic dip it came alive. I loved the sauce so much I actually ate it by the spoonful.

My favorite of all the dishes I ordered was the simple chorizo spaghetti cooked in olive oil with lots of chopped garlic. The spaghetti pasta was very al dente which I liked. If you like a softer pasta let them know when you order.

This was the last of my spaghetti but look at all the chorizo slices left. I liked their chorizo too. It was lean yet firm and very flavorful. I actually put several leftover slices of chorizo on the pizza. Chorizo and mushroom is an excellent combination.
If you look at the picture below you might think there’s not enough mushroom but let me tell you there was more than enough flavor. They didn’t just top the pizza with raw mushroom instead they sautéed portobello, shitake and porcini mushrooms and seasoned them to release the earthy flavors. I just didn’t smell or taste any truffle oil. I also liked the bitterness that the arugula leaves added to the pizza.

The crust was thin enough but it wasn’t crispy or chewy but rather somewhere in between. At least it wasn’t soggy.
Once again Amici didn’t fail to make me full and happy. I can’t wait to try their other new dishes like Walnut, Arugula, Parmesan pizza, Spinach & Chorizo pizza, Sausage Pesto pizza, Rosemary Sausage Spaghetti and Almond Crusted Sole. Hmmm that’s a lot I want to try so I better start soon!!

I love Amici! For a QSR, their food is really good. Every pasta dish I order doesn’t fail to satisfy. I haven’t tried any of their pizzas yet. Whenever I think of Amici kasi, it’s pasta! XD
