In lieu of a Christmas party my management team requested to have a buffet lunch and they chose Guevarra’s in San Juan. The buffet restaurant occupied an old house in a big property with a large parking area.

I’m not a big fan of buffets because I find the choices overwhelming. I used to think I had to try everything and eat a lot for the price to be worth it. Now I have learned to just get a little of what I like and to go back for the ones that are good.
The buffet line actually started with dessert.
For the first time in my life I didn’t eat dessert. There was nothing that interested me.

The toaster was a nice surprise. Pandesal is best eaten warm.

With so many, many choices there was something for everybody including the pickiest eaters. Even kids will find something they will like in this buffet.

This was my first plate. I liked the chicken pastel except for the crust which needed improvement. The pancit canton was good too. The Angus beef tapa had potential except I got a too fatty piece. Of all the food I got it was the Angus kare kare that I loved.
In other kare kare I have to look for the meat amidst all the tripe and veggies. At Guevarra’s there was so much tender beef and that’s the only thing I got a second plate of. Finding a gem made my buffet lunch so worth it.
