Last February 21, 2014 I was in Kalayaan Avenue in Makati and remember there was a new mall called Century City Mall (not related to the one in L.A.) so I made a quick detour to check out the place.
I went in through the side entrance so my driver can go straight to the basement parking.
Not all the stores were open when I was there.
The mall was an L shape to maximize the space. It wasn’t a huge mall but it had a good mix of retail shops.
From the lower level you can see the open air top level. Even before I got to my objective, Caliburger, I was waylaid by Toby’s Estate where I had the most delicious coffee.
Since this area was open to the elements it was quite warm and humid and quite a shock from the cool air-conditioned mall.
CaliBurger is an American based chain with most of its branches in China, Hong Kong and now in Manila.
The large restaurant will surely attract the younger crowd with its lighting and large screen video.
My favorite part was the outdoor dining area that overlooks the traffic of Makati.
What can I say about their burger made with grass fed beef? Not bad but not exactly my type either.
I tried to remove the top bun since I always do that when I eat a burger to save on carbs and to appreciate the taste of the burger more. Unfortunately the cheese was stuck to the bread so I got rid of the heel of the bun which was covered with their house dressing.
The burger itself was a bit dry and tasted like it was from frozen meat which isn’t really unusual in fast food chains. The good thing was it didn’t have any extenders which I appreciated. I was able to finish the burger and that’s a good thing already. I’ve eaten really bad burgers that I didn’t even bother to finish.

From Makati Ave head past Sen Gil Puyat Ave (formerly Buendia) towards Kalayaan Ave, where you will turn left. The mall will be on your right. Ample parking is available.
