Eric’s Birthday Party at Oakroom Restaurant and Bar

Last month I attended the birthday party of my friend Rizette’s hubby Eric who celebrated the big 5-0. Riz booked the Oakroom restaurant at the Oakwood Premier Joy-Nostalg Center Manila for a private party.

It was my first time to eat at the restaurant in Ortigas Center.

The buffet are had a very nice set-up. There was a nice variety of food and the choices weren’t overwhelming like in most hotels.

The salads all looked very tempting but I was saving space for the main course.

The chicken shawarma was the biggest hit of the night. Well, next to Eric.

I was most excited to try the pasta with lamb and Feta unfortunately it was too soft and the abundant use of cumin overwhelmed the whole dish.

Put white sauce and cheese over any veggie and it will be a big hit. This dish became empty really quick.

I didn’t try the mixed seafood but Marco said it was very good.

The desserts need much improvement and more variety.

The moist chocolate torte was the only dessert I liked. It was really rich and not too sweet. I ate about 4 pieces. They were really small!

Here’s my plate. The roast chicken and beef & mushroom pie were quite good. I didn’t eat the penne. I LOVED the chicken shawarma!!!

The chicken breast was really soft, moist and well flavored. The garlic and chili sauces were also spot on. The wrapper was a bit hard so I ate just ate the chicken mostly by itself. I went back to get another one but it was all gone. Everyone loved it as much as I did.

Oakroom has daily buffets with the following schedule and price:

Breakfast – daily P1,248.00 net
Lunch – weekdays beginning January 14, 2012 P1,371.00 net (The chicken shawarma is included during lunch but be sure to call and ask if they have it that day.)
Dinner
Friday is Tapas and Sangria night P1,235.00 net
Saturday is Saturaday Night Fever international buffet P1,609.00 net
