Regular readers of this blog know that I’m a cookie monster. Cookies are my most favorite sweet treats. I always bemoan the fact that there are so few establishments in Manila that give cookies a larger space on their shelves.
Go into any bakeshop and you’ll be lucky to find two kinds of cookies usually chocolate chip and oatmeal. That’s why I’m so happy that home bakers are filling in the gap by providing terrific cookies. One of them is YuMna! made by Aina. When she wrote me about sending Salted Caramel Cookies with Nutella Caramel filling I wasn’t that excited since the words caramel and Nutella don’t really excite me.
Aina also sent me Choco Chewies which are the smooth meringue topped gooey dark chocolate cookies on top. They were more crunchy than chewy and a little too sweet for me.
What really delighted me were the almost brownie like chocolate cookies below.
Salted Caramel Cookies with Nutella Caramel filling
Aina got the balance of chocolate, Nutella and caramel just right in this cookie. I liked it because it wasn’t too sweet and there wasn’t one flavor that overwhelmed. Instead all components came together in one compact and chewy cookie with a smooth caramel and Nutella filling. The sprinkling of just a little salt deepened all the flavors instead of making it too salty like a lot of ‘salted caramel’ products are.
