The best thing about Balesin Island Club is that a few minutes on a golf buggy and you are transported into another country. No detail is too small when they designed each village that sometimes I forget that I’m even in the Philippines.
As soon as we arrived on the island we went straight to Mykonos Village for brunch. I’ve always dreamed of going to Greece and this village is like a preview for me.
The picture below is of villa no. 2 which we toured. The villa had two levels.
Maybe because of it’s sparse furnishings and bold color the Mykonos villas have one of the lowest occupancies. It may not appeal to others but it does have it’s charms.
I love this wood clock that’s in all the rooms. I was fascinated how the numbers show on the smooth wood surface.
The room sleeps for 3-4 people and costs P10,000 per night just like all the other rooms in the club save for those extra big rooms.
A CBTL coffee maker with espresso and tea capsules are present in every room.
I took this picture on the way to the second level of the villa.
The rooftop had a large lounge area and a whirpool tub.
You can have your own party here!
Mykonos Village doesn’t have a pool but it has 4 outdoor jacuzzis. You can always go to any of the other 6 villages for a swim.
I can imagine this area being popular with adults at night.
We had brunch at the Taverna Thanassis restaurant which was one of the most popular dining options of the club.
The restaurant’s dinnerware, lights and other decor came straight from Greece.
We wanted to sit upstairs to dine with a view of the water but it was too hot.
It was very, very, very hard to STOP eating the warm herb pita bread with cheese and olive spreads. I forced myself to stop at 3 pieces when I wanted to eat the whole basket. It was that good.

My friend Vivian let me try a small piece of the stuffed squid and without a doubt it was the best squid I’ve ever eaten in my life!! I can’t even begin to describe the flavors that exploded in my mouth. My only gripe was the 5 small pieces of squid for P550? I think there should be double the quantity of squid for that price.

Elizabeth ordered the crispy lamb which I loved since it tasted just like tapa. The only thing I would change with this dish is the pita bread. This dish NEEDS garlic rice!!!

Unfortunately for me the lamb gyros was a major fail. The lamb was dry and tasteless. No salt or any flavor at all. It was a good thing Elizabeth gave me some of her lamb which I ate with my gyros. Nobody touched the other half. It was quite expensive too at P850. I should have ordered the lamb chops or lamb ribs.
